When Rod and Fiona Kildey looked at all the gear building up in their garage, they knew they had a problem – a serious addiction to camping and 4WDs that could only be cured by buying a TJM and Camper Trailer store.
With young kids and a love of adventure, Rod and Fiona saw this as the perfect way for the family to spend more time together, as well as indulge in their own passion for trying out great gear outdoors. Not only can they talk kit, but with their extensive experience in rough road travel the couple can help their customers plan a great short trip down the south coast, or a longer one deep into the outback.
Their recent trip to the Simpson Desert showed how a tough kit can make all the difference in one of the most harsh and remote terrains in Australia. Rod and Fe believe that if you take the time to deck your 4wd out correctly you know you can have faith in your vehicle in all types of terrain.”
He encourages all 4wd and camper trailer enthusiasts, from weekend trippers to long-term travelers, to come down to TJM Canberra, the only specialty 4wd, camping and camper trailer store in the region. “We have everything out for people to play with, including a full verandah,” he says. “They can set it up or pack away themselves.”
Since taking up the TJM Distributorship at the end of last year the business has gone from strength to strength, and now a wall of the store is filling up with thank you cards and well-wishes from decked out 4wd owners to happy holidayers. As to the secret to their success, Fiona sees it as pretty simple: “we don’t sell it if we don’t use it.”
